QuickPass Conversion in Progress—
May Result in Gate Delays
As noted in previous newsletters, the new “QuickPass” gate access and security management system will provide a higher level of customer service and convenience for residents and guests, enhanced documentation of gate activity and a more robust data file management system for Emergency Services. Presently we are working to complete the installation of new cameras and video equipment at all of the gates. As we undertake the transition to the new data management system there may be slight delays for visitors checking in at the guest lane or utilizing pin numbers at the key pad. ES staff may need to contact residents to verify entry. Once the new web-based system is fully integrated, more information will be provided on how to go online to add guests, update resident information and obtain pin numbers. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this upgrade may temporarily cause.

Happy Canyon Road Roundabout Project Approved
At a meeting of the Douglas County Commissioners held on July 27, 2010 the Commissioners unanimously approved to accept a Right of Way easement and Landscaping Agreement from the Homes Association along Happy Canyon Road at Gates one and two and three and four. Douglas County’s acceptance of these agreements clears the way for final planning and approval of the roundabouts along Happy Canyon Road.
The Castle Pines Metropolitan District is tentatively planning to begin construction in the Fall of 2010. All lanes of traffic will be kept open during construction with short delays as needed.
The Castle Pines Metropolitan District and Castle Pines Homes Association would like to thank each and every one that helped get this project approved!
Batteries For Your Transponder
If your transponder is not responding when entering or exiting the gate please come to the Emergency Services window inside the CPHA building, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5pm, and we will replace your transponder’s battery for free. Please do not attempt to replace the battery yourself as this may damage the transponder.
Safety Reminder for Village Children
Please help keep our children safe by reminding them to stay off the roadways when walking to the bus stop. As Fall approaches and sun comes up later in the morning children walking down the center or alongside the roadway may not be readily visible to an approaching driver. Trails and right of ways are safer options for travel to and from the bus stops. Thank you!

Train Whistle Issue: Contact Your County Commissioner Today!
Over the past two years several Village residents, with the assistance and support of the CPHA Board of Directors, have been actively working with Douglas County, the Railroads and the Federal Transportation Department in an effort to find ways to mitigate the excessive train whistle noise along the Santa Fe corridor. Presently a plan has been drafted that will convert two of the private crossings on Santa Fe into public crossings. Once made public, the crossings can then be reconfigured into Quiet Zones. The two crossings are spaced from a point south of the Village north to the crossing at Sedalia; reconfiguring these crossings into Quiet Zones will effectively create a “whistle-free” stretch of track bordering the entire length of our community as it faces Santa Fe. At the last monthly meeting of the Board of Directors, the Board approved a request to start an email campaign encouraging all residents to send an email to the Douglas County Manager and County Commissioners to voice your concern on this issue. County Manager, Doug DeBord, email to: ddebord@douglas.co.us ; Douglas County Commissioners, bocc@douglas.co.us Send a message today to let them know that action must be taken to stop the excessive train whistle noise along Highway 85/Santa Fe. Thank you for your participation.
Moving Into and Out of the Village
Many streets within the Village will not accommodate moving vans in front of residences and may require the use of shuttle trucks. Prior approval must be obtained from ES for ALL moving trucks , and they must be escorted by an ES officer. Call ES at 303-688-6446 for more info.
ES Traffic Patrols for Upcoming Week
ES will be concentrating traffic enforcement in the area of Country Club Parkway—from Diablo to Wolverine. The posted speed in the Village is 25 mph, and please remember to come to a complete stop at all stop signs. Please use caution and be aware as you drive through the Village. Thank you for helping to keep our Village safe!
Free Mosquito Control Tablets
Standing water and water features are prime breeding territory for mosquitoes. The Homes Association is offering to all residents two free larvicidal mosquito tablets that can be placed in your water feature, or anywhere you have standing water, to prevent mosquitoes from breeding near your home. Each tablet is bio-degradable, natural, environmentally safe, covers up to a 100 sq. ft. area and will work for up to 30 days. Directions for use are included. Available at the CPHA office.
