2002 DWARF MISTLETOE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM v TOXICITY While ethephon is toxic and effective against dwarf mistletoe, it is only mildly toxic to people and pets. The spray is somewhat corrosive to iron, aluminum, and copper. Florel has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Colorado Department of Agriculture. v PEOPLE AND PETS People should avoid getting the wet Florel spray on their skin, eyes, and clothing. They should stay inside during spraying and should assure that children and pets do the same. Do not touch plants, sidewalks, etc. while the spray is still wet. If you come in contact with the wet spray, just wash thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. Clean contaminated clothes and shoes before re-use. Launder separately. Once the spray is dry, there is no significant danger to people or pets. Allow 2 hours for complete drying. v VEHICLES, BIRDBATHS, ETC. Keep vehicles in the garage. Please cooperate by bringing inside or covering with plastic bags or sheets all dog dishes, birdbaths, bird feeders, and play sets. (The contractor will cover vehicles left out in the spray area. v OPEN WINDOWS Please close all windows before spraying commences in your area and left them closed until the crews have move out of the area. If the contractor finds that windows are left open, he should knock on the door to request that they be closed. If windows are left open and no one is at home, the contractor may not be able to spray.v MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET [MSDS]
The
government required manufacturers and users of hazardous materials to
publish a Material Safety Data Sheet [MSDS] for each toxic or hazardous
chemical. This includes Florel ethephon. If you wish to read the
NMSDS, you can obtain a copy from the Homes Association by fax or in
person.
