New Trash Policy  Trash bags can be placed outside at 5 am on the day of pickup instead of the previous 6 am time limit. Trash may not be put out the night before. They will pick up a max of 10 bags. Please contact WM’s customer Service at 303-797-1600 for information on disposing of large items.

To facilitate all garbage being picked up by noon, the Village has been divided into either a Mon/Thurs pickup (ie: the existing schedule) or a new Tues/Fri pickup. All homes South of Happy Canyon Road will be on the new Tues/Fri pickup with recycling every other Tuesday. Most of the homes on the North side of Happy Canyon will remain on the existing Mon/Thu schedule with recycling every other Mon. HOWEVER there is a section of homes North of Happy Canyon that will also move to Tues/Fri pickup. With the trucks getting out of the Village earlier, make sure to have your bags out by 7am or you could be missed! A letter will be coming to your home in the next week telling you what your trash & recycling schedule will be. If you do not receive the letter or if you have any questions as to when your pickup days are please contact the CPHA office. Our Standards Monitor will be providing friendly reminders and enforcement will be suspended for an interim period of time.  print out calendar

Trash Collection
information
Trash collection is one of the valuable community services provided by the Castle Pines Homes
Association and is paid for out of the maintenance assessments that residents of Castle Pines Village pay each month. This Fact Sheet details how the trash collection program works so that homeowners can understand the program and use it successfully.

Contractor

Our trash hauler is Waste Management.

Containers
Association Rules currently prohibit the use of trash cans and require that you either bag or box your trash in disposable containers. This rule is intended to mitigate the visual impact of empty trash cans in the neighborhood and the need to pick up and return your trash cans to your garage.

Where to put your trash bags

Trash bags should ordinarily be placed at the curb – either on your own property or on the street, but not in the way of traffic. Please consider the mailman and place the bags where they won’t interfere with his pick-up and delivery.

Weight and size limitations
Please understand that the Waste Management staff are required by their employer to follow work procedures established by the company and intended to help assure safe operations.  These procedures include limitations on the size and weight of the trash containers that the driver may lift into the truck. Smaller, lighter loads are preferred to heavy loads and the driver is authorized to leave behind a load that he determines to be overweight.  (If he does, he’ll tag it with an appropriate notice.)
Waste Management will pick up as many as 10 trash bags from each residence twice weekly. They will take branches and limbs as long as they are cut into sections 4’ long or less and tied into bundles. They will not pick up loose piles of branches.

Acceptable recycling items

Driver Orlando Mosley

With Single Stream recycling all items can go in the same container, there is no need to sort. Waste Management is also able to accept more items than ever before. Acceptable items include: Aluminum food and beverage containers, Glass food and beverage containers, tin cans, #1 and #2 plastic bottleneck containers, #3-#4-#5-#6-#7 plastic bottles, newspapers, corrugated cardboard (cut into 2 ft by 2 ft pieces), magazines, catalogs, cereal boxes, telephone books, printer and copier paper, and everyone’s favorite...junk mail! The Homes Association provides each resident wishing to recycle 2 recycling bins. If at any time you have more recycling than will fit you can always use a cardboard box and simply mark recycling on the side in big letters so the driver will know not to put it into the trash. If you need to pick up a bin or you would like a recycling calendar please call or stop by the Homes Association, M-F 8am to 5pm.

Complaints/Communication with the trash contractor
A pleasant request or comment to the trash man is usually welcomed with a courteous response, but please do not argue with, harass, or criticize the driver when you are dissatisfied with the service. If you are unhappy, by all means call the Association office, 303-814-1345, or email: admin@castlepinesvillage.org, to register your complaint.  We will forward the complaint to the proper person at Waste Management.

THANKS FOR YOUR COOPERATION!
